One of the most common questions in a job interview is "tell me about yourself." Usually, the interviewer asks this to understand which parts of your experience you think are most important.
Apart from briefly covering your educational background and work experience, you may highlight one key strength. This may vary depending on your level of experience:
-
Entry-level candidates: It would be great to highlight your curiosity to learn new subjects.
-
Mid-level candidates: Focus on your ability to deliver results independently and mentor junior team members.
-
Senior-level candidates: Emphasize your leadership, and track record of successfully leading complex projects or teams.
It's a common mistake to dive into too many details. This reduces the time that the interviewer has to ask questions. If you have a long list of projects, you can consider grouping them into 2 to 3 groups to keep your answer brief.
